Hot off the heels of his 'Fight Night Flows' EP earlier this year, Skatta's just dropped his second project of 2020!
The 7 track EP is out on July 10, and features vocal input from Clipson, LDizz, OneDa, Kriptik, Tarju Le'Sano, Lawless and Mac James. Production comes courtesy of transatlantic range of producers OH91, J-Fresh, Trap Jesus, DJ KDubz, Juberlee and Swat Team Beats.
'Hardships' was created in lock down, so the energy and themes covered are glaringly 'of the moment', speaking to the people of this country about the ups and downs in life today.
The opening and title track, was made in context of the anti-racism, Black Lives Matter marches. The Coventry artist has used the song to help represent the peoples' hunger for victory over both financial hardships and social injustice.
"You can be the voice for the voiceless, we can speak up and never avoided"
Skatta wants the work of protesters to go beyond the marches, and to speak on behalf of those who aren't able to speak up on social injustices.
"I represent those without a voice"
Dropping his confidently packed rhymes which aim to inspire and uplift, Skatta is truly showing his growth as an artist. Throughout the song, he delivers a diverse selection of vibes which reverberate across a range of demographics and societal points of view. This one works as a humble opener to this 7 track project and provide a strong indication of where his priorities lie...
We all struggle going through hardships /
Got our masks on and were still marching /
Done a few protests now everyone's talking /
Black lives matter movement needs supporting
