Set in the very same back alleys and dingy towerblocks of Bow E3 that gave birth to Grime, Abiade’s new visuals take a more considered approach at reporting the everyday struggles faced by inner city youths.
Highlighting issues varying from police harassment to alcohol abuse, 'The City' is an aptly deep expression of being down and out in a forgotten corner of London’s urban jungle. Juxtaposing imagery of Canary Wharf’s imposing skyscrapers to the council blocks of East London, Abiade’s new visuals are as much of a triumph of expression as the track itself.
The piano led track, made increasingly atmospheric with the layering of distant claps and kicks features intricate and emotive wordplay; describing life from the artists perspectives.
"What happens when everything that could go wrong in a day does go wrong, and then you get punished for wanting to say 'f*** the world' and live your life slightly different after dealing with so much?"
