DJ Beverly Bond Honored By United Way Youth Council

United Way Young Leaders Council will honor Hip-Hop DJ Beverly Bond during the non-profit’s 2nd Annual Red Carpet Soiree, which takes place tomorrow (December 12th) in New York City. DJ Beverly Bond is being honored for her work through her non-profit organization Black Girls Rock, which is dedicated towards changing negative images of African American women in the media. "Being recognized by an organization as established and significant as The United Way and their Young Leaders Council is quite an honor and a testament of the effectiveness that Black Girls Rock! has had in creating a paradigm shift in how women of color are viewed in the media,” DJ Beverly Bond told AllHipHop.com. “We are grateful for this acknowledgment." The Red Corporate Soiree is designed to raise money for the United Way Youth Council, which represents over 1,000 young entrepreneurs who volunteer, advocate and fundraise to support at-risk students in United Way’s Focus Forward program. DJ Beverly Bond will also spin during the event, performing the evening's first set. The event kicks off tomorrow at the Renaissance Hotel in New York City.
