Bass From Hip-Hop Music Used For Medical Implant

Researchers at Purdue University have developed a new miniature medical sensor that uses the bass of Hip-Hop music to power and recharge itself. The researchers at Birck Nanotechnology Center at the Discovery Park in West Lafayette created the device that is known as a microelectromechanical system (MEMS). A study found that acoustic waves for music, especially rap, effectively recharge the device's pressure sensor. The professors used a number of genres of music to test the sensor, including Jazz, Blues, and Rock. "Rap is best because it contains a lot of low frequency sound, notably the bass," said Babak Ziaie, a Purdue University professor of electrical/computer engineering and biomedical engineering. The acoustic waves from music or plain tones drive a vibrating device called a cantilever, which sends a charge to power the sensor.

Exclusive: De La Soul’s Plug 1 & Plug 2 Present ‘First Serve,’ “Looks Like We Made It Skit”

De La Soul MCs Plug 1 & Plug 2 are set to present "First Serve," what they are calling "a dynamic Hip-Hop group, an album, a concept, the soundtrack to a movie that has yet to be made and a fable for our times." The Native Tongue alums are retelling their story in the form of a newly created group under the "First Serve" concept – spolighting how, "after years of laying down demos and mixtapes on the hustle in the Hip-Hop game," the fictional duo of Jacob and Deen have been signed to a label, set to become "the next big thing." Taking place in an animated world that could have been imagined by Hawley Pratt on Magic Mushrooms, the high spirited and often hilarious journey is pure old school Hip-Hop; skits, disco, beats, funk, quips, burns, and hustlin' all included. The album is set to release April 2 on Duck Down Music in North America.

Story Of Full Force, Hip-Hop’s First Vocal Band, To Air Tonight

Veteran Hip-Hop band Full Force will be the subject of a special episode of "Unsung" tonight January 30. The history of Full Force's impact on the music business will be explored during the one-hour special, which explains the careers of group members Paul Anthony, Bow Legged Lou, Baby Gerry, B-Fine and Shy Shy. The Full Force "Unsung" focuses on the legendary career of the family oriented group, who got their start opening for stars like James Brown and The Jackson 5, at the famed Apollo Theater in Harlem. The hitmaking family group is credited with helping to pioneer the "New Jack Swing" style of R&B/Hip-Hop music, based on hit singles like "Roxanne, Roxanne" by UTFO, "Alice Can't You See," "Unfaithful," "Temporary Love Thing," "Your Love Is So Def," "Aint My Type of Hype" and others. "I think people are going to see our episode and say to themselves, 'wow..I didn't know that they worked with that person," group member Baby Gerry told AllHipHop.com. "Hopefully people realize that we were kind of the 'proto-type' for today's younger crop of producers- that kind of 'Wild Style Hip-Hop," with melodies and real songs over the top."

Changes to Google Privacy Policy and Terms of Service

Is this email not displaying properly?
View it in your browser.

Dear Google user,

We're getting rid of over 60 different privacy policies across Google and replacing them with one that's a lot shorter and easier to read. Our new policy covers multiple products and features, reflecting our desire to create one beautifully simple and intuitive experience across Google.

We believe this stuff matters, so please take a few minutes to read our updated Privacy Policy and Terms of Service at http://www.google.com/policies. These changes will take effect on March 1, 2012.

One policy, one Google experience
Easy to work across Google Tailored for you Easy to share and collaborate
Easy to work across Google

Our new policy reflects a single product experience that does what you need, when you want it to. Whether you're reading an email that reminds you to schedule a family get-together or finding a favorite video that you want to share, we want to ensure you can move across Gmail, Calendar, Search, YouTube, or whatever your life calls for with ease.

Tailored for you

If you're signed into Google, we can do things like suggest search queries – or tailor your search results – based on the interests you've expressed in Google+, Gmail, and YouTube. We'll better understand which version of Pink or Jaguar you're searching for and get you those results faster.

Easy to share and collaborate

When you post or create a document online, you often want others to see and contribute. By remembering the contact information of the people you want to share with, we make it easy for you to share in any Google product or service with minimal clicks and errors.

Protecting your privacy hasn't changed

Our goal is to provide you with as much transparency and choice as possible, through products like Google Dashboard and Ads Preferences Manager, alongside other tools. Our privacy principles remain unchanged. And we'll never sell your personal information or share it without your permission (other than rare circumstances like valid legal requests).

Got questions?
We've got answers.

Visit our FAQ at http://www.google.com/policies/faq to read more about the changes. (We figured our users might have a question or twenty-two.)

Notice of Change

March 1, 2012 is when the new Privacy Policy and Terms will come into effect. If you choose to keep using Google once the change occurs, you will be doing so under the new Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.

Please do not reply to this email. Mail sent to this address cannot be answered. Also, never enter your Google Account password after following a link in an email or chat to an untrusted site.
